Lange Estate continues to build a compelling story in Frankland River, with the WA Wine Review 2026 from Ray Jordan recognising both pedigree and progress across the range. As a family-owned vineyard spanning five generations of agricultural heritage, Lange Estate’s results speak to a deep understanding of site, season, and stewardship.

From elevated vineyards at nearly 300 metres, with red jarrah gravel-loam soils, our 2024 Rieslings captured regional clarity and precision. Our Providence Road Riesling 2024 scored 92 points, while our Fifth Generation Riesling 2024 stepped up to 94 points, praised for its intensity, minerality and line.

Our 2023 reds delivered equally strong results. Our Providence Road Shiraz 2023 earned 93 points, while our Fifth Generation Shiraz 2023 reached 95 points, described as one of the most impressive wines yet released by the estate. Cabernet Sauvignon also performed strongly, with scores of 91 points for Providence Road and 94 points for Fifth Generation.

These reviews affirm Lange Estate’s growing reputation for wines of structure, balance, and quiet authority from Frankland River.

1. Lange Estate Providence Road Riesling 2024

A wine that displays so much of what is good about Frankland River and this variety. It was a warmer year, but good vineyard management has enabled the creation of a very precise and focused riesling. A striking feature is its slightly textural feel, while retaining the fine, crisp, citrusy minerality that gives it linear structure. An excellent wine with some medium-term cellaring potential.

2. Lange Estate Fifth Generation Riesling 2024

There’s considerable intensity in this finely crafted Frankland River riesling. The aromas are slightly citrusy and spicy, with subtle floral notes and just a trace of bath salts. The palate has a slatey, minerally character interlaced with classic citrus tones. It shows a degree of tension and precision, yet maintains a controlled and defined textural feel.

3. Lange Estate Providence Road Shiraz 2023

A thoroughly delicious and impressive shiraz from Frankland River. The nose shows spicy, liquoricey plum characters with a bright, violet-like lift. The palate is soft, supple and juicy, delivering a succulent mix of dark plummy fruits, spices and a liberal sprinkling of dark chocolate. It all knits together beautifully with well-judged oak, and the balance is a particularly striking feature.

4. Lange Estate Fifth Generation Shiraz 2023

A dark, concentrated and powerful expression of Frankland River shiraz, capturing some truly impressive characters. It opens with rich dark chocolate, plummy blackberry notes and a touch of spice. The palate is balanced and slightly textural, with grainy, peppery tones lifting it. A complete and compelling package from a great year—this is one of the most impressive wines yet released from Lange Estate.

5. Lange Estate Providence Road Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

A juicy and supple expression of cabernet from Frankland River, showing aromatic red and blue fruits on the nose with a trace of perfumed African violet. The palate leans toward medium-bodied but retains the variety’s structure with a firm thread of chalky tannin and some well-played oak. It’s bright and energetic, finishing with good length and definition.

6. Lange Estate Fifth Generation Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

The varietal purity of this Frankland River cabernet is immediately evident on the nose, displaying blackcurrant and lifted blackberry notes over a red fruit underlay. The palate offers a mix of red and black fruits, with hints of chocolate and dark plum. Seamlessly integrated with fine, slightly chalky tannins and neatly applied oak, it’s elegant and poised—but deceptively powerful as it builds toward a sustained finish.
